Silas Grocott Cain: “I am a dancer and choreographer first and foremost however I have interests in many creative outlets such as film, fashion, painting, illustration etc. I’ve been enjoying mixing my skills to compose all aspects of my choreography. My work across all mediums currently tends to follow 3 main themes; queerness, sexual trauma, and body image, I like to use my art as a healing process for my own trauma. Sharing has always been the best way I can help myself and being able to do so through art is a privilege.
My choreographic process will always start with improvisation, taking techniques from gaga and butoh practices as well as creating my own improvisational scores. My themes and research can often feel quite dark and melancholy so I like to approach them with a playful confidence that can help keep the process enjoyable.”
