BIOGRAPHY
Hensey’s art practice is concerned with ‘openness’, which could be defined as unobstructed perception or meaning.
His practice is multi-disciplinary, incorporating the following mediums; drawing, found imagery/objects, installation, photography, sculpture and video. With regard to working methods, he uses a combination of visual hardware and software along with traditional mediums e.g. sculpture.
This methodology is inspired by Buddhist practices and philosophies, existing art, music and technology.

Hensey was born in Dublin in 1977. He currently lives and works in London, U.K. He graduated from the University of Ulster with a BSc (Hon’s) Technology and Design in 2001. Since then he has completed a Development Programme for Visual Artists at Dun Laoghaire I.A.D.T, Dublin, Ireland and also a Post Graduate Diploma in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London. This year he is undertaking a MA in Fine Art at Chelsea.
Hensey’s group exhibitions have included; ‘Full Circle’, Temple Bar Galleries and Studios, Dublin, 2004; ‘6x6xTri Showcase for Ireland’, 411 Galleries, Hangzhou City, Eastlink Gallery, Shanghai and the Chinese Central Academy of Fine Art, Tiananmen Square, Beijing, 2005; ‘Visit ’08’, Archway Studios, Dublin, 2008; and ‘Invisible Means of Support’, The Rochelle School, London, U.K., 2009.
Hensey has held solo exhibitions at the Ivy House, Dublin, Ireland 2004 and at Pallas Contemporary Projects, Dublin, Ireland 2008.
This year he undertook a 3-month residency at Kala Institute, Berkeley, C.A., U.S.A. as well as well as receiving a Special Projects Award from Chelsea Arts Club Trust. In 2010, he will partake in group exhibitions at Chelsea College, South London Gallery as well as Chelsea Arts Club itself.
