Bio
Gaia Giacomelli is a London based Italian curator. Following her BA in Cultural and Linguistic Mediation at the University for Foreigners in Siena, Italy, she completed her MA in Curating and Collections at Chelsea College of Arts in 2017. Gaia has worked in commercial galleries and not-for-profit art organisations in London and Oslo and is currently Acting Senior Gallery Assistant at Chelsea Space, as part of her Chelsea Arts Club Trust Research Fellowship.
Practice
Gaia graduated from her MA in Curating and Collections at Chelsea College of Arts with a research paper on alternative and radical pedagogies and their influence and potential in curatorial practice. Her curatorial interests encompass socially engaged art as well as the intersections of curating and educational practices. During her MA she co-curated several exhibitions including ‘One & Other’ at Zabludowicz Collection in February 2017. In 2019 she curated ‘All Things Are Yours’, a solo show by Debra Welch, at Chelsea Space.
