Charis Entwisle is the 2023/24 recipient of the MA Materials and Research Award for the Royal College of Art.
“I work mainly in pen and ink or oil on board. My work varies but the main objective is to make ideas that are immediately accessible without being explicit.
I think there’s something dignified in how situated songs and films are in their own medium – their surface value is usually the measuring stick for how well they are received, and I try to make works that emulate this system. I move between drawing and painting, drawing is really a way for me to visualise an idea clearly, and painting comes further down the line when I think an idea is worth building on.”
